About Hernan

Hernan Luis Garcia is from the indigenous Zapotec community of San Pablo Güilá, Oaxaca. As an Indigenous Community Liaison for Oax Sport, Hernan bridges the gap between the organization and remote communities, identifying talented young athletes who may benefit from sports and academic opportunities.

Work at Oax Sport

“My role focuses on connecting with small communities in the Tlacolula District, seeking out young talent who could thrive with the support of Oax Sport. I help raise awareness about sports and academic opportunities for youth in indigenous areas.”

Goals

“My long-term goal is to help Oax Sport expand its reach to indigenous communities, providing athletes with resources, sponsorships, and training camps. For 2025, I aim to strengthen connections and increase participation from these regions.”

Personal Vision

“I believe that sports can unite and inspire communities. By supporting young athletes, we can make a lasting impact on their lives and their communities.”
