In Her Words

How did you start in athletics?
I started running to be physically and emotionally healthy. I found in this sport a way to feel free and happy. Running has greatly improved my mood, something no other activity has achieved. In my first race, I discovered that I wasn’t as slow as I thought, and in my second 5 km race, I managed to get on the podium, which motivated me even more to continue practicing and improving in this sport.

What do you like about athletics?
Participating in races because it allows me to travel and discover other landscapes, towns, and cities.

Tell us your best memory of your sports career:
My best memory was traveling to Puerto Vallarta to participate in the Ultra Trail Puerto Vallarta By UTMB. It was the first time I visited Guadalajara and the first time I flew on a plane, which was very exciting for me.

What are your sports goals?
Short term:

  • Participate and get on the podium in all the 5 and 10 km races in my region.
  • Run my third half marathon on the road with a time of less than 1 hour and 40 minutes.
  • Prepare for and run my first marathon in Mexico City.

Long term:

  • Qualify for and run the Boston Marathon.
  • Be a runner for a cause.
  • Organize athletic races in my community.
  • Participate in a duathlon and triathlon.

What is your 2024 goal?
Train differently and improve my times in the short distances of 5 and 10 km.

What are your hobbies?
Playing musical instruments, doing carpentry work, walking, and listening to music.

5 words that best describe you as an athlete:
Perseverance, patience, sacrifice, courage, strength.

3 priorities in your current life:

  1. Be emotionally healthy.
  2. Have a good relationship with my family.
  3. Continue training to improve as a runner, improve my times, and not stagnate.

Anything else we should know about you?
I try to help conserve the environment and natural resources. I encourage my family to develop the habit of recycling; we only buy reusable and biodegradable products to generate the least amount of waste possible. I am against deforestation, hunting, and the buying and selling of endangered animals. I would like to do something to stop these practices. The community authorities of the town are already starting to work on this issue, but there is still much to be done.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
