Rosalino Meneses Lopez returns to La Raya, Zimatlan after an exceptional experience in the highly prestigious Ultra Coahuila Garmin. Held in Bosques de Monterreal, Arteaga, Coahuila the past 26th and 27th of June. The event attracted 1,600 participants from 18 countries who took part in distances that ranged from 12 km to 163 km. A trail race many experts consider, the best in Latin America.

The Secretary of Tourism and Development of Magical Towns of Coahuila mentioned in an official press release that the Ultra Coahuila Garmin has won prizes from the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, as the Best Sports Event in Mexico in the Sports Tourism Category.

“Being able to attend this type of race in the north of the country is not easy, it is not just registering and ready, logistics is needed to connect each of the transfers from Oaxaca, pay for the costs and do a physical preparation according to the characteristics of the climate, altitude, type of terrain, distance to travel, etc. that are part of the competition, that is why we are very pleased with the performance that Rosalino had as a finalist in the 6th place in his category, knowing that it is one of the most demanding competition in Mexico.” Eddi Perez Silva, Athletic Director of Oax Sport Inc.

Oax Sport had the pleasure to sponsor one of their main athletes, Rosalino Meneses, who squeezed his busy schedule and traveled to Coahuila to take part in this international event. Meneses competed in the 50 km distance supporting the Mexican Red Cross by participating with a cause and donating a sum of money to this important charity.

“A very technical route, and rough at the same time. I liked the route with endless climbs and spectacular views with rocky mountains on all sides, a considerable elevation that made the heart beat more. The spectators and the spirits of the people were the motivating part that they had to forget the fatigue of the route.” Rosalino Meneses Lopez, Official Athlete of Oax Sport Inc.

Rosalino had a strong start and maintained an overall top 10 position throughout most of the race. A fall in the last 8 km affected his performance, however he could finish 6th in his category.

Oax Sport’s aim is to support local athletes from the Oaxaca communities by offering mentoring and opportunities to take part in high-level competitions in Mexico and abroad. The Ultra Coahuila Garmin is an important experience for any trail runner. For this reason, Oax Sport saw it necessary that their athlete be present in this learning and fun adventure.
