What we do

A fair shot at the start line

We provide financial assistance, training, coaching, equipment, travel, and mentorship so athletes in Oaxaca can compete at a national and international level. Many of the athletes we back come from communities where sport is loved but rarely funded. We help carry the cost of the last mile, the part that turns training into results.

Our work is built around the athlete as a whole person. We support them in sport and in life, and we align our programs with three of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

SDG 3 · Good health and well-being
Medical screening, physiotherapy, nutrition, and recovery care through our clinic partners in Oaxaca.
SDG 4 · Quality education
Coaching, workshops, and leadership sessions that keep young people in school sport and in training.
SDG 10 · Reduced inequalities
Support directed to athletes from rural and Indigenous communities who would otherwise stop competing for cost reasons.

How it started

From one running group to a roster

Oax Sport began in January 2020 in Oaxaca de Juárez around a simple idea: pair local runners who had talent with the coaching, gear, and travel they could not afford on their own. What started as a training group grew into a registered nonprofit on both sides of the border.

Today many of those same runners lead guided experiences for visitors, and that income helps keep the programs going.

Athletes who stayed

The roster runs the programs

Athlete progression is not an abstract claim here. Three people who were supported by Oax Sport now help lead it:

Eddi Pérez Silva

Moved from director to coach and facility operator.

Rosalino Meneses López

A Clase A athlete who now works on staff as Athlete Relations Manager.

Juan Zurita Victoria

A Clase B athlete who now operates running tours alongside programs and operations.

Athletes and teams

The roster is the mission

Since 2020 we have supported 30 athletes individually and 10 teams and community projects. The full list, with the sports and seasons involved, is published and kept up to date.

Athlete stories are published with consent. Results and events are stated as recorded.
