The short version
- We do not sell your personal data, and we never have.
- If you write to us, we keep your message so we can answer it.
- We do not take your card details. Donations are handled by GoFundMe, Givebutter, PayPal or Venmo on their own systems.
- This site runs Google Analytics, Google Ads measurement, Jetpack stats and Ahrefs analytics. There is no cookie banner yet, so you should assume these run from the moment you arrive.
- You can ask us for a copy of your data, or ask us to delete it, and we will act on it. You do not need to give a reason.
Who we are
Oax Sport runs as two registered organisations that share one website and one team. Whichever one holds your data, you can use the same contact address below and it will reach the right people.
Oax Sport Inc. is a 501(c)(3) public charity based in Austin, Texas. EIN 86-3407818. Gifts are tax-deductible in the United States to the extent allowed by law.
Oax Sport A.C. is registered in Oaxaca, Mexico. RFC OSP-230216-SG0. Oax Sport A.C. is not authorized to issue tax-deductible donation receipts in Mexico, and does not represent contributions as tax-deductible in Mexico.
What we collect
When you contact us
The contact form asks for your name, your email address and your message. Those submissions are emailed to us and also stored inside this website so a reply is not lost if an email bounces. If you write to us directly, by email or WhatsApp, we keep that conversation.
When you donate
Donations do not pass through this website. GoFundMe, Givebutter, PayPal and Venmo collect and hold the payment details on their own systems under their own privacy terms. What reaches us is a record of the gift: usually a name, an email address, the amount, and any purpose you selected. The Givebutter donation widget loads on some pages of this site.
Automatically, as you browse
Our hosting and security software records the usual server information, including your IP address, browser and the pages you request. That record exists to keep the site up and to block attacks. The analytics tools in the next section also collect information about your visit.
Cookies and analytics
Four third-party tools run on this site. We use them to understand which pages help people and which do not, and to measure the advertising that brings most visitors here. They are listed individually because a policy that says only “we use cookies” tells you nothing.

Which pages are read, for how long, and roughly where visitors are. Sets cookies. Run by Google.
Google Ads measurement
Which adverts brought someone to the site and what they did afterwards. Sets cookies. Run by Google. It shares one tag with Google Analytics.
Jetpack stats
Page view counts. Run by Automattic.
Ahrefs Web Analytics
Page view counts for our own search-engine work. Run by Ahrefs, without cookies.
We are telling you this rather than leaving you to discover it. This site does not currently ask permission before the tools above start, so they begin working when the page loads. We are reviewing that, and this section will be rewritten when it changes. In the meantime you can block them: browser settings can refuse third-party cookies, Google publishes an opt-out add-on for Analytics, and browser privacy modes and tracker-blocking extensions stop all four. Blocking them does not affect anything on this site.
Who else sees your data
We do not sell personal data and we do not trade donor lists. Data reaches other companies only because they run part of the site for us:
- The companies named in the analytics section above.
- Our website host, which stores the site and its database.
- The donation platforms, for gifts you choose to make.
- Automattic, for spam filtering on form submissions and for stats.
- Our email provider, for messages you send us.
We will also disclose data where the law requires it. If we are ever asked for donor or athlete data by an authority, we will comply only to the extent we are legally obliged to.
Where your data goes
Our team works in Mexico and the United States, and the companies listed above are mostly United States companies. If you are writing to us from Europe, assume your data will be handled outside the European Economic Area. We rely on the standard contractual terms those providers publish.
How long we keep it
Your rights
Which law applies depends on where you are. In practice we treat every request the same way, whichever list it arrives under.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom
Under the General Data Protection Regulation you can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected, have it erased, restrict or object to how we use it, and receive it in a portable form. Where we rely on consent you can withdraw it at any time. You can also complain to your national data protection authority. In France that is the CNIL.
If you are in Mexico
Under the Ley Federal de Protección de Datos Personales en Posesión de los Particulares you hold the ARCO rights: access, rectification, cancellation and opposition. You may also revoke your consent, and limit the use or disclosure of your data. Complaints go to the Secretaría Anticorrupción y Buen Gobierno, which took over this work when INAI was wound up in 2025.
If you are somewhere else
Write to us anyway. We answer access and deletion requests wherever they come from, and we do not ask you to prove a right first.
Photographs and video
Pictures of people carry their own questions, so they have their own page. It covers how to ask for a credit, a change, or removal, and it applies whether you are an athlete, a volunteer photographer or a rights holder.
Children and young athletes
Many of the athletes we support are under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children through this website, and the contact form is meant for adults. If you are a parent or guardian and believe we hold something about your child that you want removed, write to us and we will remove it first and discuss it afterwards.
Contact us, or complain
One address reaches the people who can act. Tell us what you want done. You do not have to explain why, and you do not have to quote a law.
When this changes we update the date at the top of the page. We do not keep a public archive of earlier versions; if you need to know what this notice said on a particular date, ask us.
This page describes what we do in practice. It does not replace or limit any right you already have under the laws named above.
