We received our IRS classification as a 501(c)(3) public charity at the beginning of the year. This classification has transformed many of our operations and the way we manage the nonprofit. With this designation, we can now apply for national grants.
We received in-kind digital grants from Microsoft and Google, providing access to software and programs to manage the nonprofit efficiently, as well as digital ad credits to promote our mission on search engines. Additionally, the Airbnb Social Impact partnership allows us to offer community-based Experiences without fees, and PayPal’s nonprofit grant covers transaction fees.
2022 Highlights
Our season began in April with a Mexico City national competition. Seven athletes supported by Oax Sport participated, including Juana Cruz, who qualified for the UTMB Mexico in Puerto Vallarta. We concluded the season in Veracruz, participating in half and full marathon races.
Overall, we supported 10 athletes with race fees, apparel, accommodation, transportation, management, and publicity. We participated in six national events across four Mexican states and many local events in Oaxaca, including competitions affiliated with international organizations like ITRA, UTMB World Series, and Golden Trail International Series.
