2023 End of Year Report

In 2023, Oax Sport Inc. continued its mission to empower athletes from the small communities of Oaxaca, Mexico, overcoming challenges and celebrating significant achievements. Our comprehensive support for athletes includes financial assistance, training, coaching, access to facilities and equipment, and management and publicity for participating in athletic competitions.

Sponsorship and Support

Our efforts this year were bolstered by the generous support of several organizations and companies:

  • Scout Design provided female athletic apparel.
  • Airbnb collaborated to offer tax and fee-exempt social impact running experiences.
  • Microsoft awarded a digital grant inclusive of software and cloud services.
  • Google AdWord offered $10,000 monthly in ads credit.
  • Canva provided 50 full pro licenses.
  • Magisto and Buffer extended generous discounts on their services.
  • Halcones CECAFID made their training facilities available to our athletes.

These partnerships have been invaluable in expanding our capabilities and outreach.

Running Tours and Races

2023 was a vibrant year for Oax Sport athletes participating in races and running tours:

  • Puerto Escondido 21k: Showcasing the scenic beauty of Oaxaca’s coastlines, our athletes demonstrated resilience and skill.
  • Xoxocotlán Day of the Dead Race 10k: Athletes celebrated cultural heritage while competing in this unique event.
  • Trail La Raya Zimatlán: A challenging course that tested our athletes’ endurance and connection with nature.
  • IPN 21k: This race provided a platform for our athletes to showcase their talents on a national level.
  • BUO 5k: A shorter race that offered a spirited competition for our community.
  • Xoxocotlán Annual Relay Race: Encouraging teamwork and community spirit among our athletes.

Legal and Registration Achievements

In a significant development, Oax Sport was incorporated as a non-profit organization (Asociación Civil, AC) in Mexico and obtained the CLUNI registration. This milestone recognizes our activities as being in the public interest, which opens new avenues for funding and collaboration.

New Volunteers and Team Members

2023 saw the addition of Emma among others to our volunteer team, bringing fresh perspectives and energy to Oax Sport.

2023 Goals and Achievements

  • Expanded Support: We provided comprehensive support to 10 athletes, covering race fees, apparel, accommodation, and more.
  • Increased Participation: Participated in 6 national events, showcasing the talent and resilience of our athletes.
  • Community Engagement: Engaged with extended communities in Oaxaca, reaching out to new athletes and providing them opportunities for growth.

2024 Plans

  • International Collaboration: Aim to collaborate with an international NGO to offer training and cultural camps in Mexico.
  • Education and Language Promotion: Focus on promoting education and language skills among our athletes and community.
