Overview
In underserved communities of Oaxaca, cultural expectations and financial barriers often keep girls from organized sport. Oax Sport Inc. removes those barriers with targeted support that helps girls start—and stay—in athletics while building confidence, leadership, and academic persistence.
Program activities align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—SDG 5: Gender Equality, SDG 3: Good Health and Well‑Being, SDG 4: Quality Education, and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities—and with U.S. public diplomacy objectives that promote youth empowerment and cross‑cultural understanding through sport.
Why This Project Matters
Many girls in southern Mexico face limited mobility, early caregiving responsibilities, safety concerns, and a lack of female coaches or role models. By funding mentorship, safe spaces, and competition access, this program helps girls stay in school, build self‑esteem, and become role models in their own communities.

- Competition Access: Travel, meals, and official race entry for track, road, and trail events.
- Gear & Safe Training: High‑quality shoes and uniforms; safe training environments with adult supervision.
- Community Workshops: Sessions with families and schools to reduce gender bias and support girls’ ambitions.
