The Talented Juana Cruz to Compete in an International Trail Running Event

Juana is set to participate in the ‘Puerto Vallarta México by UTMB®’, part of the UTMB® World Series. This international trail race will take place from October 27-30 in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, gathering elite trail running athletes from the Americas.

The Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB®) is a single-stage mountain ultramarathon. Since UTMB® Group’s partnership with the IRONMAN Group in 2021, the UTMB® World Series has formally launched in 2022. The Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc will be renamed the UTMB® World Series Finals starting in 2023.

Juana Cruz García, a young ultra-running athlete from the Chatinos indigenous community of San Juan Quiahije, Juquila District, Oaxaca, will represent her region in this prestigious event.

The UTMB® Mexico: A Unique Experience

The race will immerse athletes in the roots of ancient Mexican Wixárika heritage, traversing trails within forests, agave fields, and jungles, ending at the beaches of Puerto Vallarta. It promises to be Mexico’s premier ultra-running event.

Oax Sport supported Juana during her participation in the Desierto de los Leones, where she secured her place at UTMB® Mexico by winning the 50k race. Oax Sport has covered her travel, accommodation, and local transportation for Puerto Vallarta, but public support is still needed to cover other essential expenses like food, supplements, and sports gear.
