Misael Pérez Robles Will Run Acreimex 2025 with Support from Oax Sport
On Sunday, June 29, 2025, long-distance runner Misael Pérez Robles will compete in the 21-kilometer event at the Eighth Acreimex International Half Marathon in Oaxaca City. He’s entering in the disability category, representing his hometown of Zipolite, thanks to support from Oax Sport and a private donor from France.
This assistance will help cover his travel and allow him to focus on what matters most—showing up ready, prepared, and proud to represent his community.
“For me, it means inclusion. It’s a way to recognize that we also belong in the world of sport.”
— Misael Pérez Robles

Focused and Consistent from the Coast
Misael is 29 years old and lives with low vision. He trains without a guide and currently works as a workshop coordinator at Piña Palmera A.C., a nonprofit on the Oaxacan coast that supports people with disabilities. He’s competed in events including Trail 777 Huatulco, the Jule Perro 10K, and a national-level race in Mérida.
“One of the hardest things is the lack of awareness on public roads—by drivers and motorcyclists. And the routes aren’t always accessible or marked with high-contrast signs.”
— Misael Pérez Robles
He is also an active member of Club Deportivo Jule Perro, a local team rooted in the Costa region that promotes inclusion, personal improvement, and access to sport for everyone.

Backed by Community and Club
Misael trains with Club Deportivo Jule Perro, a grassroots running group based in the Costa of Oaxaca. The club organizes local races and supports runners of all backgrounds and ages—including athletes with disabilities—through mentorship and teamwork.
Led by Floriberto Vásquez Ruiz, the club focuses on progress, not placement. Their philosophy is simple: run for health, joy, and shared purpose.
“Personally, I see running as part of taking care of my physical, mental, and spiritual health. And in the long term, I want to become a national-level para-athlete.”
— Misael Pérez Robles

Running in Oaxaca City
The Eighth Acreimex International Half Marathon is one of the most inclusive races in Oaxaca. The 2025 edition includes 5K, 10K, and 21K distances with categories for youth, adults, seniors, wheelchair users, and runners with disabilities. The event offers free registration to athletes with disabilities and those over 60.
Misael will run in the 21K disability category. The race begins at Parque El Llano in Oaxaca City on Sunday, June 29 at 6:45 AM.
Support That Moves
Earlier this year, Misael reached out to Oax Sport for support to participate in Acreimex. While donated gear had already been assigned, we offered direct financial assistance to help him cover transportation and other needs related to the race.
The funding came from a recurring contribution made by a private donor based in France. That donation was applied entirely to Misael’s case, following our commitment to designated funding and donor transparency.
“It opens doors—more chances to race, both inside and outside the state.”
— Misael Pérez Robles
Designated Donations Go 100 Percent to the Athlete
Oax Sport is a registered nonprofit in the United States and Mexico. We do not take a percentage from designated donations. When a donor chooses to support a specific athlete, 100 percent of those funds go directly to that athlete.

“Oax Sport doesn’t just talk about inclusion—we practice it. Misael represents everything we stand for: dedication, consistency, and community.”
