Oax Sport Athletes Prepare for Ultra Trail Desierto de Los Leones

Athletes supported by the Texas nonprofit are a few days away from traveling to the capital to take part in one of the major trail races in Mexico

Oax Sport is happy to start the 2022 athletic season by supporting seven athletes from Oaxaca to go to Mexico City for a national trail running race. The event is the ‘Ultra Trail Desierto de Los Leones’ that will take place this coming April the 2nd at Desierto de Los Leones National Park, located in the Sierra de las Cruces mountain range west of the big city.

The event is part of a national series called ‘Ultra Trail Mexico Series’ and it’s organized by Ochoa Sports Management (OSM) of Jalisco. The organizers will be also responsible for hosting the first ‘Ultra Trail Mont-Blanc’ (UTMB) in México, this coming October in Puerto Vallarta.

“We are very happy to be able to continue supporting Oaxacan athletes and in this first event of the year it will be the most athletes we have supported to participate outside the state and it’s first time for most of them to receive Oax Sport support. This is achieved thanks to the people and companies that trust Oaxacan athletes by supporting them with their donations.” Eddi Pérez Silva, Athletic Director at Oax Sport Inc.

Oax Sport continues its mission of supporting and financing athletes to go to the largest sporting events in the country. The Ultra Trail Mexico Series is a great way to meet and learn from the country’s best athletes. An experience that allows the benefited young runners to learn and grow in their desired sports discipline.

“It is very satisfying for Oax Sport to restart activities despite the pandemic situation that we have not yet fully overcome. The events stopped for a long time, and going to a national level race represents for us and for the runners a reward for the training that was not suspended.

We hope that the young people enthusiasm will be rewarded with their results and in the donation from the community towards this sports project” Diana García, Public Relations at Oax Sport Inc.

As a nonprofit agency, classified by the IRS as a Public Charity, Oax Sport Inc can receive tax deductible donations to support the athletes and further its mission as a nonprofit sports organization that allows sports persons from Oaxaca to travel and attend athletic competitions in Mexico and the USA.
