Rosalino Meneses and Roque Luis Prepare for the First Golden Trail National Series Event
Rosalino Meneses and Roque Luis are in the final stages of preparation for the Cerro Rojo Ultra Trail, the opening event of the Golden Trail National Series (GTNS). The race is scheduled for April 24-25, with a 50 km competition on the first day and a 15 km route on the second.
These two talented athletes from Oaxaca will soon travel to Tlatlauquitepec, a “Pueblo Mágico” located in the Sierra Nororiental region of Puebla. The town’s name comes from the Nahuatl words “Tlatlahui” (coloration) and “Tépetl” (hill), meaning “hill of color.”
Roque Luis: Gaining Experience in National Competitions
Roque Luis will compete in the 15 km race, a shorter distance that provides an opportunity to learn from the country’s best athletes and gain valuable experience in high-level competitions.
“I’m excited to participate in this race. Physically and mentally, I’ve done my best to prepare. After such a challenging year for everyone, this is my first race of 2021, and I will give it everything I have with every step I take. It fills me with pride to run Cerro Rojo and gain new experiences. Being part of such a high-level race means a lot to me. This is my moment to prove to myself and the world that I have what it takes to achieve the impossible.”

Rosalino Meneses: Aiming for the Golden Trail World Series
Rosalino Meneses will compete in the 50 km race, aiming to earn points in this Golden Trail National Series event. A strong performance could secure his spot in the national final at the UTMX TEPEC Trail in Hidalgo. From there, the top three male and female runners will advance to the Golden Trail World Series (GTWS) final, the K42 Adventure Marathon in Patagonia, Argentina.
“I feel ready as we approach the big event. The distance accumulation phase is complete, and now we focus on reducing mileage and adapting to the planned race pace. These final days of training are about preparing my body and mind without overexerting. The race will feature the best runners in the country, and my main goal is to stay focused on my pace from start to finish. The work is done; now it’s about maintaining confidence and mental strength to achieve my objective.
It excites me to push past the limits of fatigue and mental barriers once again. Sharing this experience with others who share the same passion motivates me further. I want to thank my team, Oax Sport, for giving me the chance to continue learning and experiencing the world of trail running, especially as part of the first segment of the Golden Trail Series.”
